Congratulations & Welcome to our New BOD

Wednesday, May 9th, 2018

At the May 9th meeting we elected our new Board of Directors for the 2018/19 membership year and presented two awards. All board positions were filled by acclamation.

Director at Large:

Congratulations to long-standing member, Linda Graceffo of Sparkling Graphics -- who was the recipient of the 2018 Minerva Award.  Unfortunately, Linda was not able to attend the meeting and she will be presented with the award at our June meeting.

Last year's award recipient, Donna Lafontaine, Comox Valley Record, announced the recipient.

"According to legend, ‘Minerva’ was the goddess of warriors, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, and craft," said Donna. "She was often depicted as an owl - a symbol of wisdom. The Minerva Award is presented annually to recognize a member of the Comox Valley Women’s Business Network who gives freely of her experience, time and energy to the organization, its members, and our community.

This individual is someone who has been instrumental in the growth of the CVWBN, who have assisted others in the membership and is a well-respected member of the business community.

"The recipient we have chosen this year has been a member of the Comox Valley Women’s  Business Network for a number of years and has sat on the board of directors multiple times," explained Donna. "She has volunteered countless hours of her time, is more than willing to lend a helping hand or an ear and shares her knowledge of the WBN to other members and board members. She has been instrumental in the growth of the WBN, bringing guests to the meeting while spreading the word of this fantastic group of women that come together once a month. Donating her time and business services to multiple non-profit organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Pet Lovers Lane shows that she is not only an integral part of the WBN but also of the community. She is so committed and loyal to what she puts her heart and soul into, even with an injury she still was here for us making sure everything was in order. Please join me in congratulating Linda Graceffo as our 2018 Minerva Award recipient.

Terri Perrin, Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North, was the recipient of the $500 Business Bursary.  Terri will be applying the bursary towards becoming Certified in Volunteer Administration through the Volunteer Managment Professionals of Canada.
