Declutter for a Cause Fundraiser

Declutter for a Cause and Support the CV Transition Society

If getting better organized in your home or place of work was one of your New Year’s resolutions, the Comox Valley Women’s Business Network (WBN) has planned a special event (open to everyone) that will provide you with the tips, tools and motivation to get started.

The WBN is pleased to present two inspirational speakers at the ‘Declutter for a Cause’ workshop in support of the CV Transition Society (CVTS) on Thurs., Jan 23 at La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries, Courtenay.

Certified feng shui consultant Terri Perrin, Fine Art of Intention Feng Shui, and Cheryl Rosiak, Acquired Space Decluttering, will join forces to present an engaging and fun workshop that will offer insight into how clutter in your home and work environments can affect your mood, your health, and your success.

“In addition to coming to learn and enjoy the workshop while sitting in super comfy La-Z-Boy chairs, attendees are encouraged to bring items to donate to the CVTS ‘Too Good to Be Threw’ thrift stores,” says fellow WBN member, Diana Graham, manager at La-Z-Boy Courtenay. “The CVTS truck will be at La-Z-Boy from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 on Jan. 23 to accept donations of new and gently used clothing, household items, books, and more. (No furniture please.)”

“Sales of items donated to our thrift stores and net proceeds from this event will help the Transition Society provide important community services,” adds Heather Ney, Executive Director of the CVTS. “This includes such programs as the Lilli House transition shelter for women and children, the ‘Peace Begins at Home’ family violence prevention campaign, an addictions recovery program, women’s counselling, and much more.”

Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of David’s Tea, Island Gourmet Trails and Stevenson Place. (To reduce waste, participants are encouraged to bring their own travel mug with a lid.)

There will also be door prizes and a live auction of two tickets for a full-day culinary tour of the Comox Valley with WBN member Chef Gaetane Palardy of Island Gourmet Trails. (The tour is valued at $275.)

Attendees will also go home with a copy of Perrin’s feng shui book and a 16-page ‘Control Your Clutter’ workbook, a $20 value.

This fundraising workshop is part of a year-long commitment by WBN members to support and raise funds for a different nonprofit each year.
