About Our Keynote Speaker
Kim Trottier from Culturally Committed is a wholehearted healthcare provider, and focuses her practice on providing relationship-centred care. Since 2014, she’s worked exclusively delivering services to remote First Nations communities across Vancouver Island, and through this work is grateful to have developed relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members who have become cherished mentors.
Kim will share the story of her journey into this work as a non-Indigenous woman, what compelled her to start Culturally Committed, and will invite participants to consider their responsibilities in the work of reconciliation.
“While the work of addressing racism in the health care system must be done together, we know that the responsibility and burdens of the work lie with non-indigenous individuals, communities, organizations, and governments…at the same time, those that experience the problem of racism in the health care system must be intimately involved in developing solutions.”
